The boricua beauty alongside Alex Rodriguez and Anthony went all out in order to help victims of recent natural disasters for the One Voice: Somos Live! A concert for Disaster Relief.
The event, which took place in Miami and Los Angeles, was filled with performances by Bruno Mars, Romeo Santos, Daddy Yankee, Demi Lovato and many more. DJ Khaled hit the stage singing one of his famous songs ‘All I Do Is Win’ bringing out Fat Joe, Busta Rhymes, and rapper T.I. During the performance the ‘Wild Thoughts’ artist brought out his son, Asahd Tuck Khaled and talked about how the concert was a Godly moment, and having his son by his side was a testament to how important it is to donate for the children still suffering in the Caribbean.
Other celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres and Kim Kardashian West were there to answer phone calls for donations.
As the show was on air, some A-lister who had been working the phones, took to social media to show what was going on behind the scenes and to raise awareness for donations.
The concert — which aired on several television networks like Telemundo, Univision and NBC — raised $30 million.
On Sunday, Lopez thanked all who participated and donated via Instagram, saying, “Thank you for everyone who tuned in and donated…30 million and counting!! We are so grateful!! We are One Voice.”
The benefit concert was organized by Lopez along with Anthony to help aid all those in need affected by the natural disasters — the hurricanes in Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, South Florida and the earthquakes in Mexico — that have taken place other the past two months.
According to TMZ, Lopez addressed President Donald Trump’s treatment of Puerto Rico post-Hurricane Maria, by saying, “There are some messes you can’t clean up with paper towels.”
Anthony closed the concert with a Puerto Rican anthem Preciosa live which embodies the love and admiration many feel for La Isla del Encanto. It’s safe to say the power is in the hands of the people, and Americans who are ready to put in the work needed to help rebuild the island of Puerto Rico.
