It’s Time for Halloween: Check out the Hottest Trends for 2014

It’s that time of the year again! Halloween is right around the corner and we’ve all probably waited too long to buy our costumes for the festivities.

Maybe the reason why we have waited or put it off for a while is because we have no idea what to be this year – like every other year really.

Luckily though, there are plenty of popular costumes in 2014 that can fit anyone’s personality. Whether you want to be current with the hottest new costumes, or go classic, there is something for everyone.

There are many pop culture references this year that have influenced Halloween choices. But there’s always the classics that have been around for a while, but always manage to be popular every year. For instance, Disney-themed costumes.

At one time or another, every girl has dressed up as something Disney-themed, like a princess. So it’s never a bad idea to go that direction. This year, one of the hottest costumes in the market is Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty and Elsa from Frozen.

Both characters from big Disney movie hits this year. If you want something a little more sinister, Maleficent is perfect, just add dramatic makeup for the night and the costume will do the rest! If sinister isn’t your thing, however, then you can choose Queen Elsa, with her beautiful blue, crystal gown. Either way, you will shine at any party!

Another great idea to stand out from the rest is dressing up as the woman who saves the day. There are countless woman superhero costumes out there that any girl can rock one of these looks!

The most popular out there is the Amazonian princess and Wonder Woman, with her signature red, blue and gold outfit. But if those two are not your thing, there are newcomers that will certainly get the job done.  Black Widow from the Avengers and Captain America is another great costume. It is simple, but definitely makes a statement without the bells and whistles.

Any of these costumes, from Supergirl to Spider Girl to a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, will guarantee to bring out your inner hero!

I don’t think there’s a more fun option than making your own costume. Something that is very unique, and by far gets the most attention at any party that you go to. Especially if it’s something clever.

One of the most popular are Day of the Dead costumes, which entail mostly the amazing makeup that is not at all hard to do with all the online tutorials out there that provide step-by-step instructions.

Other great DIY costumes could be vampires, zombies or something fun like your favorite celebrity or movie/TV character, and most of these do not require breaking the bank.

The point is just to have fun on Halloween, and let your creativity run wild. You still have time to look for that perfect costume that will have people noticing and who knows? Maybe even get you to win a costume contest!
