Impressive 3-0 Start to the Season has Cardinals in Super Bowl Conversation
By Francisco Romero. – The Arizona Cardinals, not only bet the San Francisco 49ers this past weekend 47-7, they crushed them, they pounded them, they humiliated them, I think they made them cry.
Perhaps it was the worst game of quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s career as he was intercepted four times during the game.
It was total domination from the Cardinals on both sides of the gridiron.
The Cardinals players are being humble about their early success, “My message the whole time will be, ‘Keep putting work in, keep respecting the process,’ ” said defensive end Calais Campbell. “We have a long way to go. We haven’t accomplished anything yet.”
According to Darren Urban of cardinals.com, the Cardinals have 17 touchdowns in their first three games, only the fourth team in NFL history to do so. The last was the Cowboys, who had 18 touchdowns in the first three games of 1968.
Quarterback Carson Palmer is now 16-2 in his last 18 starts with the Cardinals.
On Sunday, the defense scored 24 points on the four turnovers.
The season is only in its beginning stages, but if the 49ers game is any indication of what lays ahead for the Cardinals, then the fans should strap on their seat belt and enjoy the ride.
The scariest thing for the opposition is that the players are not yet convinced that the team has played to the best of their abilities yet, “We’ll have to look at the film. I know it wasn’t perfect. I know it wasn’t pretty,” said quarterback Carson Palmer after the game on Sunday.
“I thought we came out with a purpose. We played for sixty minutes with that purpose and that was to get in first place in our division,” said head coach Bruce Arians after the 49ers game.
Will the momentum of the domination of the first three games carry the Cardinals all the way to Super Bowl 50?
More than momentum, the Cardinals have the talent to get them to the promised land.
Stay tuned, I will!
