This week’s skincare tip goes out to my Latina sisters who were “blessed” with oily skin like mine, or to anyone looking for a natural way to detox from deep-seated dirt or oil underneath their skin.

Turns out, one of the best ways to combat excess oil or dirt is to incorporate charcoal-based skincare products to your beauty routine to give your skin a fresh, clean feeling fast. Charcoal has special binding properties that help draw out toxins and bacteria that causes acne. It also cleans out all that gross stuff in your pores with continued use.

If your skin is not normally oily, it’s best to use charcoal products about twice a week because it does have a tendency to dry out skin.

There are many great charcoal skincare products on the market you can tailor to your beauty routine. Don’t limit yourself to just skincare, as there are many ways you can use charcoal to detox your entire body.

Below are a few of my favorite charcoal products I can’t live without and have proven to be very effective in keeping my oily skin under control. My acne breakouts are minimal now, and my pores appear smaller — not to mention my makeup lasts longer with fewer powdering sessions.

So with that in mind, feel free to do your research and find what works for you and give charcoal a try!
