Wait no more; the 2014 edition of the World Cup is here. Brazil 2014 comes 64 years after the South American country last hosted a world cup and pretty it wasn’t as Brazil lost to Uruguay in the final match 2-1. And yes, Brazil has won five World Cups in between, but you can be your bottom dollar that they would like to play that game again.
Since the “flux capacitor” has only been invented in movies we can’t go back in time, therefore Brazil will have a new start to finish what it couldn’t more than half a century ago.
The road to the final is tougher now since there are now 32 countries competing compared to 23 in 1950.
Brazil and Croatia open World Cup play today. Along with the host country Croatia, Mexico and Cameroon make up Group A.
Brazil and Croatia will play a rematch of the 2006 World Cup, a game the Croatian fought until the end. Brazil won the game 1-0, but Croatia gave them a run for their money.
Croatia is playing with two naturalized Brazilians (Jorge Sammir Cruz Campos and Eduardo da Silva) both of who could very well belong to the Brazilian National Team.
A key player for Brazil will be Neymar, but the opposition will have to defend Dani Alves and Marcelo who by far are the best attack-minded pair in the tournament.
Luis Felipe Scolari returned to mange Brazil in 2012 and has the tough task of winning the World Cup at home. Under Scolari in 2002 Brazil won its fifth World Cup.
Now, sit back, relax and enjoy the ride, World Cup play is here!
