Google Doodle Pays Homage To Selena Quintanilla

Google celebrated the life and legacy of the Queen of Tejano music, Selena Quintanilla. The tech company released a vibrant cartoon with the infamous song Bidi Bidi Bom Bom, which was released on her first official album on October 17, 1989, playing in the background.

Though the Tejano singer may be gone, her legacy will never be forgotten. Fans instantly took over social media to spread the news on the video. According to Forbes, the creative doodle has been in the works for over two years.

“This is someone I looked up to my entire my life and I wanted to create something special,” states Perla Campos, Global Marketing Lead for Google Doodles. The Google team worked closely with the Quintanilla family to ensure the visuals and animations displayed the late singer style completely.

The Google doodle showcases Selena’s iconic beauty from the bangs to the red lipstick, however, once you hit the purple play button, prepare to see the short animation of how the star went from a little girl with a big dream to reaching stardom.

The “Dreaming of You“ singer’s sister, Suzette Quintanilla posted a sweet message on Instagram saying, “What a great way to celebrate an icon. I think it will bring great joy to all her fans who follow her and look up to her as a role model. Selena would be so excited. It’s such an honor.”

The Google team also compiled an interactive online art exhibition which showcases some of Texas native icon’s possessions, including stage outfits, fan mail, the Grammy she received in 1994 for best Mexican-American album and more.
