Gold Medalist Lisa Fernandez To Thrill D-Back Fans at Game Friday
Arizona fans of three-time Olympic g can root for their favorite athlete star as she throws out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the D-backs vs. Giants game at Chase Field this Friday, Aug. 30 at 6:40 p.m.
Fernandez is a U.S. Olympic Hall of Famer and played on the U.S. softball team during the 1996, 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games. She recorded a 0.33 ERA as a pitcher for Team USA and got the final three outs to defeat China in the gold medal game of 1996.
Over the course of her career, Fernandez set an Olympic record of 59 strikeouts as a pitcher. She also helped the USA Softball Women’s National Team earn gold medals at the Pan American Games and the Canada Cup as a pitcher and third baseman.
