Gilbert to host the nation’s largest annual celebration of America’s Constitution

History comes to life, September 17-24, when well-known colonial figures jump off textbook pages for local students and folks around the Valley to celebrate Constitution Week, the largest celebration in the country honoring America’s famous founding document.

Activities and events all lead up to the week’s primary attraction – The Constitution FairSaturday, Sept. 20, drawing in more than 10,000 guests and featuring a fireworks celebration and concert performance by Lee Greenwood, award-winning country music artist.

Other activities include:

• A weeklong Treasure Quest will lead families on a hunt for clues at local Gilbert businesses to discover a prize at the end of their treasure maps.
• Colonial Era characters will visit more than 40,000 students in Gilbert Community School District classrooms, sharing tales of their early American adventures.
• 3,000 Valley Boy Scouts will earn merit badges honoring their commitment to citizenship and participation in American heritage.
• Students sharpen their quills to submit historic-themed artwork or essays in a contest for first, second and third-place prizes. Adults can participate in their own fine art contest, too.
• Nationally recognized spiritual leaders of many denominations join together, with different ideologies but unified in their belief in God and freedom, to speak in celebration of restoring faith within our nation.
