First Preseason Game for Cardinals: A Step in the Right Direction

One down and three to go as in preseason games for the Arizona Cardinals. With a victory over the Houston Texans by a score of 32 – 0, the Cardinals have started off on the right path.
Head Coach Bruce Arians was able to take a good look at his young players, especially rookie quarterback Logan Thomas. The youngster from Virginia Tech had a great first game going 11-2 for 113 yards and scoring a touchdown.
“It’s good to go against different guys, different looks, different fronts, different coverages, it was good to go out and be efficient, everybody did a very good job,” Said Cardinals Quarterback Carson Palmer after the game.
Palmer finished the game perfect 5-5 for 84 yards and one touchdown. Quarterback Drew Stanton also did a great job during his time on the field he was 11-17 for 152 yards and 1 touchdown.
Wide Receiver Larry Fitzgerald caught 2 passes for 11 yards and scored a touchdown.
“I was very pleased with the way we started, stayed focused,” Head Coach Bruce Arians said during the post game press conference and added, “I thought we protected the football well, we attacked on defense, extremely well and that is what we were looking for, we were looking to get a fast start.”
The Cardinals defense dominated the game; the Texans were only able to gain 172 total yards. Arizona gained 407 total yards.
“For the most part the effort was flawless, the execution was flawless,” said Cornerback Patrick Peterson.
In regards to injuries, Arizona played without Arizona was without wide receiver Michal Floyd who is suffering from a groin injury and Wide Receiver / Kick Returner Ted Ginn who has a knee injury.
Arizona’s next game will be August 16. The Cardinals will travel to Minnesota to face the Vikings.
