Emeraude Toubia: Latinos in Hollywood
Emeraude Toubia is a proud Latina.
The Canadian-born star, who last year made her Hollywood debut as Isabelle Lightwood on Freeform’s sci-fi fantasy series Shadowhunters, recently partnered up P&G to tackle the misconseptions of Latina beauty. We sat down with the Mexican-Lebanese actress, where she spoke about the Latino representations in Hollywood, which is often rooted in stereotypes.
“Latinas feel like they are under-represented and inaccurately portrayed in the media. Latina comes in different body types, different hair color, and different skin tones. We are multi-dimensional, not one size fits all,” the 28-year-old said.
The brunette belleza also revealed she admires how much the Latin American culture places a strong value on family.
“I think Latinos is all about la familia. It’s about supporting each other. It’s about being there for one another and I think that’s what I’m mostly proud of,” Toubia shared.
