Mexican soccer player Javier Hernandez, better known as “Chicharito” became the fourth Mexican player as a member of Real Madrid F.C. The team announced today that Hernandez joined the team on loan from Manchester United.
Chicharito who is only 26 years old, joined the Red Devils in 2010, he has not been a starter for most of his career with Manchester United, but has been a key substitute.
“I’m a Real Madrid player. I accepted as soon as I knew there was interest in me and I hope to do as well as possible. I’m lucky and I have come here to enjoy it and help the team, which is the most important thing. The thing I love most is playing football and playing here is a blessing,” Hernandez was quoted by realmadrid.com.
“I’m a Real Madrid fan, of course. In Mexico you keep an eye on Europe and there is nobody that hasn’t seen a Real Madrid match. I’m delighted and I’m going to wear this shirt to win titles,” he added.
This is Chicharito’s third team as a professional player; he came through the Chivas of Guadalajara’s farm system before joining Manchester United. Hernandez has been a key player for the Mexican National Team the past two world cups.
Chicharito has been a Premier League Champion and played in the finals of the Champions League during the 2010-2011 season.
With El Tri, Hernandez has scored a total of 35 goals. During the Brazil 2014 World Cup he scored a goal against Croatia.
Javier Hernandez joins José Ramón Sauto, José Luis Borbolla and Hugo Sánchez as the only Mexican players to belong to Real Madrid; Hugo Sanchez scored 208 goals in 283 games.
