Despite Cardinals 40-7 rout of Buccaneers Bruce Arians wants Improvement
By Francisco Romero
On Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the Arizona Cardinals had no trouble winning by a score of 40-7.
For most of us the game seemed as easy as it could be with the Cardinals improving to 1-1 and giving its home crowd solid win.
But Bruce Arians isn’t most of us, he is the head coach of the Cardinals and he wants his team to get better every week, and he means business if he is to take his squad deep into the playoffs.
During Monday’s press conference Arians wasn’t shy when it came to talking about the improvements his team needs to make, “We’ll continue to grow, hopefully, on the practice field, and continue to get better because there are lot of things to be corrected. The score doesn’t indicate how poorly we played offensively and we can get a hell of a lot better,” Arians told reports on Monday.
Some of the improvements that need to be made were mentioned during his session with the media, “Communication was not very good at the beginning of the game, way too many mental errors especially by a couple of young players.”
Despite the improvements that need to be made, Arians was pleased with how the first half ended and was very pleased with his defense, “Defensively I think we played hard, ran well, very physical.”
The Cardinals took care of the ball against the Buccaneers at they joins Oakland and Philadelphia as the only teams in the NFL who have yet to commit a turnover this season.
Arizona’s victory over the Buccaneers on Sunday marked the team’s fifth game with 40+ points dating back to last season. That is the most in the NFL during that span. Carolina has the second-highest total with three.
The Cardinals will travel to Buffalo to take on the Bills next Sunday.
