Denver Broncos Super Bowl 50 Champions
By Francisco Romero
The Denver Broncos beat the Carolina Panthers 24-10 to become Super Bowl 50 Champions at Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco, California.
The Broncos did it with defense, defense and then a bit more defense.
Ah, and don’t forget the 39 year old quarterback that let the Broncos past the Panthers with poise, Payton Manning finished the game with 141 passing yards on 13-for-23, he did not throw a pass for a touchdown, but his performance was good enough to give Denver its thirds franchise Super Bowl championship.
Linebacker Von Miller was named Super Bowl 50 Most Valuable Player; Miller was all over Carolina’s quarterback Cam Newton as he was credited with 2.5 sacks and two forced fumbles and a lot of pressure on the opposite offense.
The Broncos opened the game with a 34-yard field goal in their first series and never looked back.
For Payton Manning it was a special night as he now has won two Super Bowls with two different teams as a matter of fact he became the first starting quarterback to accomplish such feat.
Offensively for the Broncos C.J. Anderson rushed for 90 yards on 23 carries scored a touchdown, while Emmanuel Sanders had 8 receptions for 83 yards.
Panthers quarterback Newton finished the game with 265 passing yards; he was intercepted once and did not throw for a touchdown.
Newton also had 6 carries for 45 yards.
Carolinas running back Jonathan Stewart carried the football 12 times for 29 yards and scored a touchdown.
The Panthers offense was never able to feel comfortable and had a hard time performing as they did during a spectacular regular season.
The Panthers finished the regular season with a record of 15-1, while the Broncos finished 12-4.
Newton and company should be able to contend for Super Bowl 51 next season, while there is uncertainty on whether Manning will be back for another rodeo next season.
In the meantime Manning will continue celebrating.
