The 24-year-old starred alongside the big purple dinosaur back in 2002, before landing her breakthrough role as Mitchie Torres on Camp Rock. But in a recent interview at the Cannes Lions festival, the brunette beauty admitted she wishes she hadn’t started acting so early on.
“I wouldn’t start that young if I could do it over again,” Lovato said. “It was a difficult transition from child star to transform into a mainstream artist.”
Lovato, who was 7-years-old when she landed her gig on the popular kids show, revealed that one of the major drawbacks of being a child star is struggling to find your identity along the way. “You have to find your identity. For so long you’ve been molded into something and now you’re expected to figure out who you are very fast in front of the entire world. It’s definitely has been difficult, but it’s been a learning experience. I am still figuring out who I am every day.”
Despite all the challenges the “Skyscraper” singer has faced throughout her career, the popstar is excited to give Lovatics an inside look of her life in her new YouTube series called Simply Complicated. “I’m turning 25,” the Mexican-American star told the audience. “Hey, it’s a quarter of a life. I’m looking at my future and my past and I want to share it with my fans.”
