At only 22 years old, James Rodriguez, the midfielder from Cucuta Colombia has already scored 5 goals in World Cup play.

“It’s historic, a dream come true, I always wanted to score in the Maracana and now I have. If you want to win, every player is important. Uruguay had a lot of men behind the ball, so we needed plenty of movement up front and we got it. Now things are going to get even harder, but we can go far,” said Rodriguez after the game against Uruguay.

Although it may be to soon into Rodriguez career, but Uruguay’s Coach Oscar Tabarez already compared him to Argentina’s Diego Maradona.

Against Uruguay Rodriguez scored at the 28th and 50th minutes of the match.

With Saturday’s victory Colombia made soccer history, as it became the first time the Cafeteros have made it to the quarterfinals of a World Cup.

Rodriguez’s task of guiding Colombia to the finals does not get any easier as they will face, the host country, Brazil in their next match. The game will take place July 4th at Estadio Castelao in Fortaleza.

For now, the young soccer player has not only kept the hope of million of Colombian fans with high hopes of a World Cup Final, but has kept them dancing along the way.
