Dancing its way in Brazil, the Colombian National Team has assured itself a pass to advance to the next stage of World Cup play.
Colombia defeated Ivory Coast by a score of 2-1 and improved its record to 2 wins without a defeat.
As Colombian’s best player Radamel Falcao watches from the stands (out of world cup play with injury), a young and determined Colombian team is entertaining the world, not only because it has shown a few dancing moves, but because it has shown it belongs with the best in the world.
James Rodriguez and Juan Quintero scored for the Cafeteros at the 62nd and 69th minute respectively. For Ivory Coast Gervinho scored at the 73rd minute of play.
It was an intense game; Colombia utilized a tactical game that paid off, while Ivory Coast used its speed and athleticism to get near the net, but ended up on the short end of the stick.
“It’s easy to play when you’ve got good players,” mentioned Colombia’s forward James Rodriguez, after the game and added “This game was tougher than our previous one, because Ivory Coast has better players [than Greece] and are physically stronger. That’s why these three points feel like they were earned harder.”
England Loses Second Game
England is on its way out of the World Cup after losing its first two games of group play. England lost to Uruguay 2-1 for its second defeat.
England’s chances of staying alive hang by a very small thread. Italy would have to win its next two games (Vs. Uruguay and Costa Rica) and England would have to beat Costa Rica, then England would have to have a goal differential advantage to advance.
