Arizona – Nevada

The University of Arizona Wildcats won their 11th non-conference game in a row under head coach Rich Rodriguez.  The Wildcats improved its record to 3-0 after beating the Wolf Pack 35-28 at Arizona Stadium on Saturday.

“Another hard fought game, very fortunate to win,” Arizona’s head coach Rodriguez said after the game.

Nevada gave the Wildcats a run for their money.

The Wolf Pack’s Quarterback Cody Fajardo finished the game with 321 passing yards and three touch down, but turned over the ball on down on the last drive of the game.

Arizona’s Quarterback Anu Solomon set career-best parks for completion percentage (84.6%) and pass efficiency (204.82). He finished the game 22-for-26 with 278 passing yards, three touchdowns and one interception.

Arizona produced a 100-yard rusher (Wilson, 171) for the 20th consecutive game; it matches the longest such streak for any FBS program since the 1996 season (Nebraska, 1999-2000).

Wilson, who had a touchdown in each of his first two games, recorded his first multiple-touchdown game.

Receiver Cayleb Jones finished the game with 9 receptions for 116 yards.

The Wildcat defence produced three double-digit tacklers, led by sophomore linebacker Scooby Wright’s career-high 14 stops.

Arizona is no 3-0 and will face California at Arizona Stadium next Saturday.

ASU – Colorado

The Sun Devils won the Pac-12 Opener against Colorado 38-24, but the big issue after the game was the injury to Quarterback Tylor Kelly, a right foot injury, sustained late in the third quarter.

Kelly finished the game completing 13 of 21 passes for 195 yards, he threw three touchdowns and rushed for 70 yards.

The extent of the injury is not yet known.

ASU’s record stands now at 3-0 (1-0 Pac 12).

ASU outscored Colorado 14-0 in the first quarter. The Devils have outscored opponents 53-7 in the opening quarter in 2014 and 331-146 overall under Coach Graham.

Through three games in 2014, running back DJ Foster has 510 rushing yards; he finished Saturday’s game with 147 yards on 20 carries.

ASU has a bye this week and will face UCLA September 25th.
