By Francisco Romero. – It is that time of the year once again; students will start trickling into campus soon, the ones who are already there are the football players, coaches and staff.
As the 2015 College Football Season nears the expectations are high.
The University of Arizona Wildcats will try to build on an impressive 2014 season that finished with a 10-4 record and a trip to the Fiesta Bowl.
Even though Arizona was picked to finish fourth by the Pac-12 media, the Wildcats bring a core of players that are capable of making them the Pac-12 South Champions once again.
The Wildcats will rely on the leadership of quarterback Anu Solomon and running back Nick Wilson on the offensive side.
Cats head coach Rich Rodriguez embraces the fact that Solomon will start at quarterback for a second season in-a-row, “Not only can we add more offense, more than anything we know what Anu (Solomon) and Jerrard (Randall)’s strengths are. We know what plays they run better than others. We have to be careful, even though we have some experience there, that we don’t add too much and its slows us down. We’ll be a little ahead of installation than we were a year ago at this time,” said the head coach.
On defense, the Wildcats have one of the best linebackers in the country in Scooby Wright.
Arizona opens up the season September 3rd against UTSA at Arizona Stadium.
About an hour and a half North of Tucson, the Arizona State Sun Devils will try to build on their 10-3 record from last season.
ASU lost quarterback Taylor Kelly, but will rely on senior Mark Bercovici to lead them.
On November 21 ASU and Arizona could be battling it out for the Pac-12 South Championship.
The Sun Devils will open up the 2015 season on the road, facing Texas A&M, the game will be played in Houston.
