The Arizona Wildcats will open the 2014 Football season at home on Friday, August 29th against UNLV. Head Coach Rich Rodriguez’s squad enters the upcoming season after winning eight games each of the last two years and two straight bowl game appearances.
In 2014 Arizona and Arizona State will compete for the Pac-12 South Title. The Sun Devils will try and build upon last year’s success. Last year ASU won the Pac-12 South and finished with a record of 10-4.
The Wildcats enter the current season with great recruiting class, but it will have a new Quarterback. USC transfer Jesse Scroggins is expected to start for the Wildcats. The offense returns 7 starters, but it will be hard to replace running back Ka’Deem Carey.
Receivers DaVonte Neal and Caleb Jones, both transfers are expected to have a huge impact during the season.
On defense Scooby Wright and senior Tra’Mayne Bondurant should lead the Wildcats.
ASU is betting on quarterback Taylor Kelly, who returns after passing for 3,635 last year.
On defense Damarious Randall will lead the Sun Devils secondary. The 2014 defense lost a couple of key players to graduation in Carl Bradford and Will Sutton making it a bit weaker than a year ago.
