College Football: Arizona falls to UCLA 45-24; USC prevents ASU from 5th Straight Victory

By Francisco Romero. – Plagued by injuries, especially in the quarterback position, the Arizona Wildcats used three play-callers against UCLA to no avail; UCLA beat the Cates 45 – 24.

Arizona played Brandon Dawkins, Khalil Tate and Zach Werlinger; Dawkins left with an injury and Tate will not redshirt this season as a consequence of playing against UCLA.

Offensively both teams started slowly Saturday night as the first half ended in a 14-7 UCLA lead.

The second half was a different tale for UCLA as it scored in five possessions to open the score wide.

Bruins’ quarterback Josh Rosen finished the game with three touchdowns passes and rushed for another one, he threw for 350 yards on a 20-for-37 night.

Tate for Arizona threw for 2 touchdown passes and finished with 72 passing yards.

Arizona’s record stands now at 2-3, 0-2 (Pac-12), while UCLA’s record is 3-2, 1-1 (Pac 12).

The Wildcats will travel to Utah next week to take on the Utes.

ASU vs. UCS

The Sun Devils were denied their fifth victory of the season and a chance to be undefeated as the Trojans of USC won, Saturday night 41-20.

ASU got on the board first with as Zane Gonzalez kicked a 40-yard field goal in the first quarter.

The half ended with a 27 – 6 lead for USC, at one point in the game, the Trojans scored in four straight possessions.

“You have to give them credit, they were the better team tonight,” ASU’s head coach Todd Graham told the assembled media members after the game. “We couldn’t run the ball, we couldn’t do much.”

Sun Devil’s quarterback Manny Wilkins was injured in the second quarter, Brady White came into relieve him.

USC’s quarterback Sam Darnold finished the game with 352 passing yards and three touchdowns.

ASU is 4-1, 1-1 (Pac – 12) and the Trojans improved their record to 2-3, 1-2 (Pac – 12).
