After only four matches, Head Coach Ricardo Antonio Lavolpe, has been dismissed from his post with the Chivas of Guadalajara. In a news conference the owner of the Guadalajara team, Jorge Vergara, accused Lavolpe of inappropriate conduct towards a female employee.
Lavolpe also held his own press conference where he denies the accusation. “I would like to see what the young lady had to say, I would like to see the formal complaint,” said the former head coach. In addition his legal team mentioned that Lavolpe has not been dismissed officially, that no one, not even the owner has either talked to him nor has sent him any type of notification and that all the information they have received has been from media reports.
On Monday Vergara had mentioned that Lavolpe would be retained as a head coach.
With the current situation Chivas is once again looking for a new head coach. Two of the biggest names in Mexican soccer are being mentioned as possible successors of Ricardo Antonio Lavolpe: Jose Manuel “Chepo” de la Torre and Victor Manuel Vucetich.
The Chivas lost their last game of the season finishing in 15th place and missing the playoffs by just two points. Guadalajara finished with a record of 1-2-1. The Chivas are in danger of relegation and are trying to avoid it.
