By Francisco Romero. – The dust of the pre-season games has settled in the NFL and the league is ready to start the 2015 season.

The Arizona Cardinals will open regular season play at home (University of Phoenix Stadium) against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday September 13.

The Cardinals are looking to build upon last year’s success, a season that was derailed by injuries, the Cardinals were still able to make it to the playoffs, but ended up losing to the Carolina Panthers 27-16.

He healthy Cardinals squad is back and looking forward for a chance to make it to Super Bowl 50.

At the quarterback position Carson Palmer will lead the Red Birds alongside longtime Cardinal Receiver Larry Fitzgerald.

Palmer played 6 games last season before he was out with an injury.

On the receiving corps Michael Floyd will add depth to the field and should become a human highlight reel of its own.  John Brown will also be a force on the offensive side.

On the ground Andre Ellington will once again be the leading ball carrier.

One of the biggest strengths for Bruce Arians team last year was the offense as they were fifth in points allowed; once again the defense looks to be a dominant one for the upcoming season.

The secondary will feature Patrick Peterson, Tyron Mathieu and Rashad Johnson in trying to stop the opposition.

The leadership of head coach Bruce Arians will be key to the the Cardinals this upcoming season; under Arians the Cardinals have won 21 of 32 regular season games and made the playoffs last year for the first time since 2009,

Last year New Orleans finished the season at 7-9 and did not make it to the playoffs after making it to the postseason four out of the last five seasons.

Kickoff against the Saints will be at 1:05 p.m. on Sunday.
