By Francisco Romero. – The winning streak for the Arizona Cardinals ended at six games after losing to Seattle on Sunday 19-3.
Arizona is still in first place in the NFC west with a record of 9-2; Seattle and San Francisco are right behind at 7-4.
With quarterback Carson Palmer out with an injury the rest of the season. Drew Stanton led the Red Birds offense against Seattle. The Cardinals finished the game with 204 yards in total offense.
Besides Palmer, veteran receiver Larry Fitzgerald was also out with an injury.
“A simple analysis of this one, if you don’t block, catch, tackle and kick, you can’t win,” said Arizona’s head coach Bruce Arians after the game.
Cardinals Andre Ellington caught five passes for only 39 yards; John Brown caught three passes for 61 yards.
Stanton finished the game with 149 passing yards, completing 14 of 26 passes.
“I think we had our chances, we just didn’t make the most of it and that starts with me, making sure we are doing everything correctly with the right assignment and plays,” said Cardinals quarterback Stanton during a post-game conference.
Arizona’s defense was on top their game as they sack Seattle’s quarterback Russell Wilson five times in the first half.
Wilson finished the game with 211 passing yards, completing 12 of 22 passes and one touchdown.
Arizona has now gone seven quarters without scoring a touchdown. The last time they scored was against the Lions in the first quarter.
Arizona’s road ahead does not get easier as it has to play on the road for three out of the last five remaining games of the regular season.
The Cardinals will travel to Atlanta on Sunday to face the Falcons.
