Beauty Tips to Keep your Skin Protected and Healthy this Summer
By: Lorraine Garcia Rivera
Sunscreen should be an essential part of your daily skincare regimen to keep your beautiful Latina skin protected, healthy and wrinkle-free as long as possible in this Arizona dry climate. Here are some tips to help you with your daily skin care routine:
- Choose a sunscreen with and SPF (Sun Protection Factor) of 30 or higher
- Apply sunscreen after you’ve cleansed your face. From there, it is recommended to wait about 20 minutes to continue with your moisturizing and makeup routine. Waiting those extra 20 minutes keeps the effectiveness of the sunscreen from decreasing.
- Remember to protect your lips with lip balms, olive or coconut oils.
- Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours if you plan on being outdoors all day, and every 3 to 4 hours during a normal day.
- Blueberries, oranges, kale and spinach are delicious, healthy and natural ways to get your sun protection.
Here are some of my current favorite sunscreens:
Skin Script Sheer Protection 30 is the go-to product in my treatment room for my clients. Plus, it’s safe for all skin types.
Colorescience has a self-dispensing mineral powder sunscreen called Sunforgettable that can fit in your purse and comes in a variety of colors and finishes. The great thing about it is that it can be applied quick with a few swipes and it won’t mess up your makeup. Check out this gem for yourself here.
