Tucson, AZ – For almost two quarters everything pointed out to an Auburn win.  The Tigers had the lead (21-3), the momentum and were about to receive the ball on Florida State’s (FSU) 4th down punt. Instead the Seminoles faked the punt.  The ball was put on running back’s Karlos Willams hands who ran for a first down. The Seminoles eventually scored a touchdown to make the score 21-10 along with the momentum to finish the first half.   

Florida State beat Auburn 34-31 becoming the BCS National Champions and finishing with a record of 14-0 while the Tigers of Auburn finished the season ranked No. 2 with a record of 12-2.  

FSU overcame an18 point deficit, making it the largest deficit in a BCS Championship game to take the trophy.  Florida State’s 21-3 deficit late in the first half was its largest of the season. The Seminoles largest previous deficit was 14 points against Boston College.  

The Seminoles did not easily win the game as the lead changed four times in the last five minutes of play.  In the final play Jameis Winston threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Kelvin Benjamin with 13 seconds to play to win the game.  

FSU’s quarterback Jameis Winston finished the game completing 20 of 35 for 237 yards, 2 touchdowns, he also ran for 26 yards. Wide receiver Rashad Green caught 9 passes for 147 yards.  

For Auburn quarterback finished the game with 217 yards, completing 14 of 27 passes with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception.  Running back Tre Mason had 34 carries for 195 yards and 1 touchdown.   

Florida State is national champion for the first time since 1999.  The game was played at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.
