Arizona Wildcats Looking to Continue Momentum Against ASU
Tucson, AZ – After humiliating the Oregon Ducks, the number 5 ranked team in the country last Saturday by the score of 42 -16, the Arizona Wildcats are getting ready to face the Arizona State Sun Devils in Tempe this coming Saturday. It is no secret this is the biggest game for both schools in one of the oldest rivalries in college football dating back to 1899.
After beating the Ducks, Arizona improved its record to 7-4 overall and 4-4 in the Pac-12 and assured itself of a bowl game. The Sun Devils beat UCLA last week taking the top spot in the South Division of the conference with an overall record of 9-2 and 7-1 in conference play.
Arizona played an almost flawless game on both side of the gridiron against Oregon dominating one of the best team in the country. Now the task is even harder as the state bragging rights are on the line and Arizona’s head coach Rich Rodriguez will not take this game lightly, “We’re trying to improve our bowl status and it’s our last regular season game but, in and of itself, it’s the ASU game. It’s one of the biggest rivalries in college sports.”
Here is Arizona’s quarterback B.J. Denker’s take on the Arizona – ASU game; “I think we are fine, I don’t think we are going to let up just because we had such a great game last week. I think it makes us hungrier, and it’s ASU. We shouldn’t have to pump anybody up on our team; we know this game is important. It’s the most important game on our schedule and this has to give us momentum going into our bowl game so we are focused and excited.”
ASU comes into this game ranked number 12 in the country its highest ranking since being No. 12 on Dec. 2, 2007. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 pm this coming Saturday, November 30th.
