article-2690949-1FA02E2900000578-366_634x355PHOENIX — Without a doubt, emotions ran high during this Sunday’s World Cup final.

Argentina was defeated in extra-time by Germany on a final nail-biting score of 1-0. Mario Gotze scored the winning goal in the 113th minute.

According to the Daily Mail, the story was different from the German celebration outside of the field.

Argentina fans turned against each other in Rio de Janeiro outside the Maracana and seemed to fight amongst themselves. There was also trouble in Buenos Aires, Argentina as riot police clashed with vandals.

There were several protests already prior to the game outside of the stadium by Brazilians, due to their campaigns against FIFA.

Images also went viral of Buenos Aires police firing tear-gas and used water-cannons to restrain a group of youths who were throwing rocks and vandalizing stores at a celebration event.

Parents were seen taking their young children to a safe place for refuge, and local media reported 8 police officers injured in violence late Sunday.
