A new Phoenix area Hispanic marketing networking group called Collectivo has arrived to the Valley and has kicked off with an engaging inaugural event.

Collectivo’s mission is to fill the Hispanic marketing education void in the Phoenix Valley.

Approximately 70 people attended the kickoff event last week to see what the discussion about the new Hispanic marketing group was all about. The event was hosted at the new Office Pile space in Downtown, which was the perfect venue for socializing and networking.

Collectivo is devoted to bring the educational content that the Valley needs. They argue that our community offers very few events that are geared for Hispanic marketers, and those that do, tend to carry a large price-tag and rarely deliver the unfiltered networking and education that the Collectivo event presented — which is always free to all who attend.

A panel was present in the event, who delivered personal insights from their numerous decades of experience in Hispanic marketing. The panel included Natalia Ronceria Ceballos from the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Jaime Talamante from New York Life, and Francisco Aguirre from The Office Pile.  Together, they touched on topics including marketing to Hispanics of different ages, which tone of voice to use when creating materials, as well as what NOT to do when creating a Hispanic marketing campaign.  There were also intriguing points about the difference in terminology between Hispanics,

Latinos, and even Chicanos.  Passionate beliefs were delivered from these well-educated marketers about what is the best language to reach Latinos; Spanish, English, or a mix of Spanglish.  Especially interesting was hearing the panelists disdain for the use of Spanglish in TV commercials.

Overall, the Collectivo movement is bound to make a difference in the community and their needs in Hispanic marketing and education.
