Cotto Canelo PicBy Francisco Romero. – The wait is almost over, the most anticipated fight of the year will take place between Saul “El Canelo” Alvarez and Miguel Cotto on Saturday night in the Islander Ballroom at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The weigh in took place Friday and both fighters made the weight with no problem.

Cotto weighed in at 153 ½ lbs. and Canelo weighed in at 155 lbs. for the fight.

“We had a great training camp in Los Angeles for several weeks. All I have to say is that I am ready for the fight. I know that Canelo is ready too. Let’s give the fans the fight they need from us,” said Cotto this week.

Cotto’s trainer, Freddy Roach, is confident that Cotto will win the fight that he is already looking past the fight against Canelo, ““I would love for Miguel to win this fight by knockout, call out Mayweather and then end his career. Miguel always tells me that if he had me in his corner when he fought Mayweather he would have knocked him out. He tells me that story all the time. I think Miguel could pull off the strategy I have to beat Mayweather. I think that would be a good fight for him. I think I could put Miguel in a very aggressive mode,” said Roach.

On the other hand Canelo assured his fans he is ready for the fight, “I’ve had a great preparation. I’ve worked very hard. I am patiently waiting for Saturday night to have my hand raised in victory once again. It’s going to be a difficult fight, I know that, but that is why I prepared properly, and I am ready to give a great fights,” said Alvarez.

Miguel Cotto will enter the fight on Saturday with a record of 40-4, 33 KOs, Canelo Alvarez’s record stands at 45-1-1, 32 KOs.

The fight will be a12 round bout with Cotto’s title up for grabs.
