Monday Night Football was All Eagles; Giants Offense Struggles
By Francisco Romero. – The New York Giants started Monday Night Football as planned; a 13-yard pass from Eli Manning to Odell Beckham Jr. gave the Giants a 7-0 lead with 10:23 remaining in the first quarter.
But all went downhill from there; the Eagles beat the Giants 27-7.
A tenacious Eagles defense put way too much pressure on Manning and could never get the offense going.
“Offensively we just couldn’t get anything going, couldn’t convert on third downs and tough to get any rhythm in the second half,” said Manning after the game.
Eagles Corner Back Nolan Carroll II intercepted Manning twice scoring on one of the interceptions.
“I thought our defense played outstanding all night long,” said Eagles head coach Chip Kelly during his postgame press conference.
On the offense, Eagles’ DeMarco Murray ran for 109 yards and scored touchdown.
Quarterback Sam Bradford finished the game with 280 on 24-of-38 and one touchdown; he was intercepted three times.
Even with three interceptions, Bradford was able to get the offense going from the start of the game and never looked back, “For us to be able to come out and put a touchdown on the second drive is something we haven’t done,” said Bradford after the game. “To get that going, it was big for us.”
Kelly gave a lot of credit to the Eagles’ offensive line, “I think our offensive line is really starting to come together as a group.”
The Eagles have now won two straight games and improved to 3-3, while the Giants record stands now at 3-3.
After the game the Giants head coach Tom Coughlin was not a happy camper “Very disappointed in the outcome, there was obviously a lack of balance tonight, our defense was on the field way too much.”
