Two AZ Latinos urged for new cabinet
Two of Arizona’s Latinos are among the top possibilities for Obama’s cabinet.
According to Voxxi, the National Council of La Raza is recommending former Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Cesar Conde and Rep. Raul Grijalva from Arizona for positions.
Hector Sanchez, chair of the National Council of La Raza, noted that none of the people Obama has nominated to his cabinet are Latinos. However, Sanchez, who is also the president of Labor Council for Latin American Advancement, said he is aware that the White House has consulted and had conversations with some of the “highly qualified Latinos” who the NHLA recommended for cabinet positions.
In the coming weeks Obama will announce more nominations. During this time, the League of United Latin American Citizens will continue to push for more Latinos in Obama’s cabinet.
