1. Javier Bardem: No Country for Old Men

We’re still haunted by Javier Bardem’s character—the merciless killer who assassinated people left and right while hunting down millions of dollars in drug-deal-gone-bad money. As if that haircut wasn’t terrifying enough, there were those eerily calm slaughters to really turn our blood cold.

2. Penelope Cruz: Gothika

While not the main character, Penelope Cruz played a creepily convincing mental patient alongside Halle Berry, who’s character gets her own straight-jacket treatment when she is accused of killing her husband. Visions of ghosts and insane asylum walls covered in blood ensue.

3. Eva Mendes: Children of the Corn V: Fields of Terror

An oldie but a goodie. Eva Mendes (back when she was Mendez) is one of the latest victims of the classic “group of people gets lost in a town of crazies and scrambles to make it out alive” stories. So many corn stalks, so many nut job kids… It’s worth a revisit.

4. Jordana Brewster: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning

When Jordana Brewster and her friends crash their car while on a road trip, and are taken to a run down shack of a house by the town’s sheriff, we learn how the classic Chainsaw Massacre stories began. Cue the iconic sounds of that motor, the camera-flash and, of course, the screaming.

5. Bella Thorne: Amityville: The Awakening

In the latest iteration of the classic based-on-a-true-story horror flick, Bella Thorne‘s family moves into the old Amityville house of horrors. The demonic forces inhabiting the place possess Bella’s sick brother and try to take the family down.

6. Camilla Belle: When a Stranger Calls

In this remake, Camila Belle plays a babysitter working in a secluded house who gets threatening phone calls from a psychopath who’s hiding very close by.

7. Jimmy Smits: Bless the Child

Evil forces are after a six-year old girl with extraordinary powers and it’s up to Jimmy Smits and Kim Basinger to save her.

8. Benicio Del Toro: The Wolfman

In this remake of the 1941 classic, Benecio Del Toro plays a man who returns home to help look for his missing brother only to be bitten by a werewolf that’s been terrorizing the town. As happens when one is bitten by a wolf, Benecio starts acting strangley and giving a whole new meaning to beast mode the moon is full. Will he be captured? Will he regain his humanity? You’ll have to cue it up on Netflix to find out.

9. Catalina Sandino Moreno/Naya Rivera: At the Devil’s Door

Catalina Sandino Moreno is a real estate agent hired to sell a home where a possessed young woman was living. She and her sister, played by Naya Rivera, try to figure out what happened to the girl while protecting themselves from the evil that starts to surrounds them.

10. Lisa Vidal/Lupe Ontiveros: Dark Mirror

Okay, stay with us on this one. When photographer Deborah, played by Lisa Vidal, and her family move into a new house, strange things start to happen. At the top of the list is a mirror that reflects things that aren’t really there. When Deborah notices that the people she takes pictures of are ending up dead, she becomes convinced that there’s evil lying within the windows and mirror in the house and that’s what’s behind the supernatural occurrences. Lupe Ontiveros plays her mother (naturally) and the only one who believes her.

11. Demián Bichir: Alien: Covenant

They’re baaaaack. In the sequel to 2012’s Prometheus, and the second installment in the Alien prequel series, Demián Bichir is the sergent on the Covenant ship which is heading somewhere dark and terrifying in space.

12. Diego Luna: Flatliners

Release Date: September 29

Another year, another remake. In the reboot of the haunting ‘90s flick, a group of med students, including Diego Luna, create their own near-death experiences to see what life is like on the other side. The merging of the two worlds will prove to have devastating consequences.

13. Javier Bardem: Mother!

Ah, Javier, you are the gift that keeps on giving. In this just-released movie, a married couple played by Bardem and Jennifer Lawrence move into a new home when they are greeted by uninvited, and terrifying, guests.
