Now here’s a new, interesting study for women who are trying to get pregnant.
A new study has found that women who lose 11 pounds are able to conceive up to two weeks faster – and no, the weight that you start with does not matter.
The Daily Mail shared the study done by the Harvard School of Public Health, in which they studied women in all dress sizes and found out all benefited the same way.
Researchers said the finding couldn’t simply be explained by overweight women having irregular periods.
Instead, eggs could be of poorer quality or the lining womb may not be ripe enough for any eggs that are fertilised to implant there.
Researcher Audrey Gaskins said it wasn’t clear weight why loss helped the women who were slim anyway.
But it might be that those who were helped most were at the heavier end of normal weight.
The amount of time saved means that women who went down a dress size took two and a half months to fall pregnant, compared to the three months the others spent trying.
However, underweight women were the quickest of all to conceive.
It isn’t known why, but it may simply be that the bandings such as ‘underweight’ and ‘normal weight’ that we use for things such as heart disease are less accurate measures when it comes to fertility.
Dr Gaskins analysed data on 1,950 women, aged between 19 and 40. The information included their weight at 18 and their weight at the time they started trying for a family.
She said it is important that doctors have simple messages to give to patients.
