Jessica Candelaria understands first hand the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Over the past 5 years, she has been able to shed 50 pounds, and describes her journey as life-changing.
“Before I was involved with a healthy lifestyle, I graduated from college, was working for the state of New Mexico, and did not know what leading a healthy lifestyle really meant,”
Her outlook on life was completely changed when she was introduced to the global nutrition and weight management company Herbalife, which changed her outlook in life.
In November 2009, she quit her position in corporate America, moved to Arizona and is now the owner of her own business, while sharing along the meaning of a healthy lifestyle to others.
“My business promotes a healthy, active lifestyle. We do free wellness profiles of the club, free fitness camps and more,” she said.
She explains that what most people need to become healthy is a circle of people to motivate them. A group of friends or coworkers that become a small community of support — a family.
And that’s what her business stands for.
“It is not a diet. We like to educate people on what it means to feel good, not just weight loss, but just feeling good.”
Candelaria explains how society can be so focused on a scale and a number, but she believes in fueling the body with the proper nutrition.
“Once you give your body the proper nutrients, the side effect is that you feel good, like you can pretty much do anything with your body.”
The clients that walk in through her doors are her greatest motivators to keep pushing as a better person and pursue better results.
“My team and my clients are my why. They’re why I wanted to do this and not work in corporate America because I can actually and physically help people and change their lives.”
Many of us can relate in how difficult it can be to take the initial step towards weight loss. She tells those who are interested in a healthy lifestyle to be 100 percent ready and to be fully committed.
She offers a unique approach to keep their motivation alive. Write three things that drive you to get healthy. “What I do is I keep those things with me so when I’m having a bad day, I go back to that list and see ‘those are the reasons why I wanted to take this step.”
As a mommy, she has been able to teach her own children to make the right decisions to keep them healthy.
“That’s been my biggest challenge with my kids, teaching them what I’m learning and we take it day by day… my daughter has now been a part of it for 5 years now, so this is also become her life,” she said.
On Aug. 30, her business hosted a free fit kids camp using the hashtag #fitkids, where children were taught the importance of staying active and how to make it fun and easy to do.
