MIHS Honored at Health Care Heroes Event

Dr. John Post, founder of MIHS’ McDowell Healthcare Center, last week was honored with the Health Care Heroes Lifetime Achievement Award by the Phoenix Business Journal, and Patricia Kardos, Director of Nursing at the Arizona Burn Center, was honored in the nursing category.

Dr. Post is an HIV specialist who started the McDowell Healthcare Center 25 years ago at the outset of the AIDS epidemic. The McDowell Healthcare Center is the only HIV specific medical practice in Maricopa County that also provides on-site dental care and behavioral services.

Pat Kardos has been called the “unquestioned leader of patient care services at the Arizona Burn Center” by Burn Center surgeons. In a nursing field where stress and burnout are high, Pat Kardos stands out as a visionary leader who has displayed outstanding skills in education, leadership, communication and collaboration. She is also an active member of the American Burn Association.
