heat warningThe warm spring days came and went leaving Arizonans in a vamp of warm weather that shows no sign of regressing any time soon. A warning and heads-up to any that had outdoor plans this weekend: There is heat advisory expecting record-breaking conditions to reach 117 degrees on Saturday and 114 degrees on Sunday.

Unfortunately, it looks like summer is in full swing for the Valley of the Sun. But by taking precautions and planning accordingly, not all your summer fun has to halt. It is encouraged to apply sunscreen of a minimum of SPF 35, not forgetting key areas that are often exposed to the sun such as the neck, hands and ears. Do not use SPF ‘s over 100 as they contain to0 many chemicals. You may also want to consider wearing a hat to cover up delicate facial skin. Most importantly drink water! On an average day at least eight cups of water should be consumed, and with such harsh conditions we recommend drinking even more and avoiding outdoor activities that may seem harmless, such as walking your pets.

We strongly recommend our AZLatinos readers to stay indoors this upcoming weekend and use this time catch a flick, grab a bite, visit museums, do a little shopping in doors, even read a good book, download music, clean your apps, review restaurants on Yelp and help others stay away from the heat! Regardless of how you decide to keep cool through the excessive heat warnings, we encourage you to  make healthy decisions based on the weather as well as share your concern to keep others safe!
