Women and chick flicks without a doubt go together.
What woman doesn’t shed a tear during Titanic’s first kiss scene or Nicholas Sparks’ “The Notebook?”
According to a study published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior, not only does romance not appeal to men in the same way it does to women, but it actually lessens their sex drives.
During this study, it was shown that men were actually more turned on by video clips from a documentary about English history than they were by Titanic.
The reason? Men need more graphic visual stimulation to boost their sex drive and are programmed to want to reproduce with multiple partners, as opposed to nurturing a monogamous relationship with just one.
By contrast, women don’t require visuals to feel desire; what matters most is the context in which they encounter sexual stimuli. For women, the attachment system is more important.
