Located in Phoenix, this Latin fusion restaurant is serving gourmet Latin food.
Flavors from Costa Rica, Mexico, Argentina and more can be found on none other than Ticoz Resto-Bar. The 7-year-old eatery has been providing not only unique Latin dishes, but also an enjoyable atmosphere where you can go for happy hour after work with friends or even for a hot date.
Who says you can’t play Shakira and Beyonce’s hits in one playlist?
Ticoz Resto-Bar knows no limits when it comes to music selections and of course, food.
ArizonaLatinos.com stopped by the upbeat hot spot and spoke to manager, Jared Camet.
AZLatinos: Tell us about Ticoz Resto-Bar and what the restaurant has to offer to the valley?
Jared Camet: Ticos is a Costa Rican term for the natives in Costa Rica. We serve Latin Fusion and Latin drinks.
AZL: What entrees that you have here would you consider to be unique to the restaurant?
JC: Our signature dish is the blue corn enchilada. It’s basically blue corn, tortillas with shredded chicken, green chile sauce, a variety of cheeses served with a fried egg on top. Another entrée that is commonly ordered is the pork chile mac and cheese.
AZL: How would you describe the atmosphere ?
JC: It’s a chill, laid-back a casual place. More like a bar, lounge feel.
AZL: I see that you serve brunch. What can customers expect to find on the brunch menu?
JC: Brunch is from 10 AM – 3 PM. You will find food ranging from breakfast burritos to eggs benedict. The Mexican style eggs benedict is served on house-made cornbread with chorizo and green chile sauce.
AZL: Tell us about the lively bar you have in the middle of the restaurant.
JC: Every day, we have a half-off special. We do happy hour twice a day from 3 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. and then reverse happy hour from 9 p.m.– Close. We have half-off sangrias, margaritas and mojitos (which are really popular). I am starting an agua fresca drink which is fresh fruit diced with water, lime and sugar. Every day I do a specific drink. Today I am featuring the fresh mango margarita. They’re very tasty and fresh!
AZL: I see a lot of mirrors collectively spread out in your restaurant and unique decorations. Can you tell me about the decor?
JC: Most of our artwork is done by local artists. Some of it is even on sale (dining area) and bar. One of the artists uses found objects, meaning whatever the artist finds on the side of the road, he creates it into some form of art.
