Mi Comida Restaurante Latino is an eatery of many traits.

Dishes from Colombia, Peru, Venezuela and Ecuador are prepared freshly by none other than Ecuadorian natives, Rosa and Carlos Rosas.

The two work together as a team. While Rosa prepares orders in the kitchen, her husband manages the front end of the restaurant and between the two, they take the lead in the restaurant.

For many years, the eatery has brought in waves of customers from Americans to Latinos who are craving their country’s food or are looking to expand their horizons.

The Rosas take pleasure in cooking their beloved Latin dishes. Each entrée is unique and they enjoy serving their own country’s food.

“Ecuadorian food is a mixture of Spanish, Indian and African,” said Rosa Rosas.

The Rosas had a particular vision when designing their menu. The two wanted to represent multiple countries, which has worked in their favor.

From the wide variety of authentic soups to traditional and even new items, customers have the freedom to stick to their favorite dishes or try something new with other South American dishes.

“A lot of our Ecuadorian dishes we make here can be found on the coast of Quito,” she said.

You will find many ingredients in the coast of Eduador, including platanos, and papas on the mountains.

And while many dishes that the Rosas prepare include the platanos and papas, numerous entrees have coconut milk as an ingredient to give it a twist of African flavor.

The idea of combining multiple cultures into food at their location came about when Rosa observed the restaurant market in Arizona.

”I saw the market before I started the menu. There were a lot of different kinds of restaurants that made a specific type of food,” explained Rosas.

The benefit of dining at a multicultural restaurant is customers can choose an item such as the seco de pollo, a popular chicken stew, and top it off with the Peruvian Lucuma ice cream.

Saco de pollo, a very simple Ecuadorian stew on the menu, is a common order. The drinks selection definitely hits home as well. From the popular Colombiana to La Colita, the variety of authentic drinks can make a native feel at home and a new customer feel adventurous.

Even though Rosa Rosas enjoys cooking her country’s traditional meals, their passion for all of South America’s dishes truly shines through in exotic dishes such as the Tamale de Papa to the Sudado de Pescado.

As she continues to make dishes, she only has gratitude to the success of her business.

“Thank you for all of the compliments that I have received. I always say ‘thank you’ and that this is not for me, it is for my customers,” she said.

When it comes to satisfying a customer’s appetite, the diverse plates at Mi Comida Restaurante Latino truly hit home and everyone can experience a variety of cultural meals on one tab.
