There is a new drive-thru in Peoria that is bringing in an endless amount of cars, first-time and regular customers.

Brushfire Tacos Y Tapas is a quick-stop location serving a combination of Mexican and Spanish cuisine at a fast pace and affordable price.

The idea of the unique eatery began in Oregon and was named after the ministry, Brushfire. 24-year-old general manager, Sione Saenz, took a leap of faith when he accepted the opportunity to assist in creating a legacy in Arizona.

“I feel that I have a special connection to the founders, so I jumped both feet in,” he said.

The food made at the eatery is quick, simple and flavorful. The most popular item on the menu is the steak tacos with guacamole, pico de gallo and cheese.

Another popular dish is the pork tacos. They are delectable enough for Mexican food lovers to recognize but different enough because of the sweetness in the pineapples sprinkled on top.

The restaurant has reached their one-year mark this month, and by the looks of the cars constantly driving up to place orders and lines forming around lunch time, there is no stopping for Brushfire Tacos Y Tapas.

“From our tapas to our burritos and bowls, all of our items on the menu are chef inspired,” Saenz said.

The tapas are under five dollars and will lead you to order another round. You can choose from the typical chicken empanadas, which is similar to a pastry, but filled with chicken, spicy mayonnaise, lettuce, sour cream and chicken, to the croquetas, which are crunchy cheese balls with spicy mayonnaise and creamy ham inside.

And finally, the dessert items are hard to miss. The sweet and fresh churros are a must-try. Each order is packed with two churros and a side of chocolate dip.

While the location is small with outdoor seating, the drive-thru service is quick, affordable and kind.

“The owner, Clint Berkey, really embraces the give back of his business,” Saenz said.

Berkey does not receive any profits from the restaurant. He strives to make a difference in his community and in the ministry back home, Brushfire.

The business hopes to expand to more locations around Phoenix in the future.
