unnamed(Chandler, Ariz.) — Two chefs, three local beers, six dishes – you be the judge! Coming up on Monday, August 3rd, Chef Anthony Serrano from El Palacio of Chandler will take on reigning champ, Chef Romeo Taus from Romeo’s Euro Café in an epic battle for east valley greatness, simply called Chef Off.

Each chef will prepare three dishes to be paired with local craft beer from The Perch in Chandler. The secret ingredient is pork and the dinner theme is Southwestern.

Chef Off is a fun and inspiring food event designed to highlight the talents of local chefs from locally owned and operated businesses. The original concept started in the summer of 2012 when three southeast valley chefs got their heads together over a glass of wine – just how you’d expect a great idea to hatch! The trio, consisting of Romeo Taus, John Wong of SN Asian Kitchen and Lori Hassler of Radda Caffe-Bar, enjoyed the art of competition and showmanship and continued the tradition to challenge local chefs each summer.  Chef Off operates with the motto: keep it local, keep it tasty and keep it fun!

“This is going to be a fun and exciting new element to our monthly beer dinners and having the chance to test my culinary skills against a local chef that I respect and admire is going to make this that much more exciting,” said Chef Anthony Serrano of El Palacio.

Chef Off is going down on Monday, August 3rd at 6 p.m. at El Palacio of Chandler. Dinner attendees will have the chance to vote for their favorite dishes in a blind tasting. At the end of the night one chef will be named the winner and of course, will earn culinary bragging rights. The winning chef will go on to compete with the next challenger.

“There is no better culinary experience than an independent, local, passionate, chef driven kitchen establishment. I’m looking forward to celebrating our local food culture through healthy competition,” said Chef Romeo Taus of Romeo’s Euro Café.

Tickets to the Chef Off are $55 per person and seating will be very limited, so please make a reservation by calling 480-802-5770 or online at www.epfamilyrestaurants.com. El Palacio is located at the Crossroads Towne Center 2950 E. Germann Road, Chandler, AZ 85286. For more information about Chef Off visit www.facebook.com/chefoffaz.
