Chef Mel Mecinas Dishes on Six-Course Tasting Menu at Talavera
By: Jessica Danielle Ramirez
It’s common to have three-course meals (or maybe four if you’re indecisive about which appetizer to select). But occasionally, there are places that have the option for a six-course meal.
Yes, you read that right! Six courses.
The Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North offered a special meal over the weekend known as the James Beard courses where Chef Mel Mecinas prepared his best dishes he created in New York, and duplicated in Arizona for all foodies to experience.
Talavera restaurant is where upscale casual dining meets flavors from Oaxaca. Chef Mel is the man behind the culinary delight and has played with ingredients making simple yet, exquisite dishes that captures every foodie’s heart.
Dining at Talavera can be a surprise. If you’re in the mood for a six-course meal, Chef Mel may present you with different plates that are made up at the time of order.
“I always come up with different and unique flavors,” said Chef Mel. “Six course menus are always fun for us because we’ll come up with some crazy dishes.”
Creativity and inspiration are two components that have made Chef Mel a success in the kitchen. Every day, Chef Mel has a vision of what he plans to present for the day.
“All of the best menus I do are always last minute,” he stated.
His talent and long hours perfecting his meals lead him to New York, where he presented a special menu filled with salmon, lamb, and rabbit. The flavors of Talavera have created a wave of praise from locals to visitors.
While a six-course meal may seem like too much food, when it comes to fine dining it’s all about quality over quantity. Each entrée is paired with a specific wine that compliments what is served. So prepare yourself for a bitter and sweet, white and red tasting.
You’ll be served unique upscale dishes using only Chef Mel’s finest ingredients. From his hometown to his imagination, and with a bit of experimenting, there is something for everyone at Talavera.
