Most music lovers are familiar with the popular Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix also known as “MIM”. While you can tour the area and listen to interesting genres and historic music from around the world, there is also one more thing you can do and it lies in the café.
Café Allegro is home to fresh grow local foods from Arizona. Although the café looks like a cafeteria, once you step inside you’ll begin to notice all of the cultures from around the world.
ArizonaLatinos.com got in touch with Stephanie Liegeois who is the general manager of Café Allegro and she gave us the inside scoop on these world delights.
AZLatinos: Tell us about the food you offer here?
Stephanie Liegeois: We work with 70 to 80 local farmers and ranchers to provide consistently 65-70% of our cuisine. We feature local entrees that are 100% local seven days a week. Our global entrees mirroring the mission of the museum, an obvious world experience. It’s always inspired by global flavors.
AZL: What is the most popular global entrée?
SL: They change daily! Depending on what is fresh and what are farmers most proud of. We feature those items. So our menu can change mid-shift or daily. Our soups are always wildly popular.
AZL: Tell me about the soups. What is the must have soup?
SL: Anything with vegetables, our chicken and vegetable, our turkey- vegetable, anything with those items due to their freshness according to season.
Dining at the café Allegro is like having the best of all worlds. Customers can choose to stick to local freshly grown produce. The egg salad sandwich or their “local garbage salad” includes a variety of vegetables, hummus, and feta topped with red wine vinaigrette. You can also go the adventurous route and try the world entrée of the day.
The next time you decide to go to MIM and make your way past the halls and historic musical instruments, stop by Café Allegro and go local fresco. As the saying goes “music is the universal language”, so is food.
