ASU Veterans Upward Bound Now Enrolling
Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) at Arizona State University is now enrolling veterans for free academic services and college prep classes but veterans must enroll by the deadline of July 31. VUB offers academic and career counseling, refresher courses in mathematics, English, science, foreign language and computer literacy as well as seminars on time management and study skills.
VUB assists veterans with the transition to higher education and places them on college campuses. The program offers a unique experience that prepares veterans to enroll in and begin any college or training program. Enrolled veterans learn how to navigate the college environment — from applying to the school of their choice, applying for financial aid and accessing their veterans’ education benefits to understanding general education requirements, degree options, plans of study and enrolling in classes.
“This is the only federally funded educational program in Maricopa County that serves veterans based on income requirements or potential first-generation college students ,” says Director Veronica Hernandez. “Participants develop a network of community with other veterans and are supported by staff who care about their success.”
