ASU Doubles Degrees Awarded to Latinos in the Past 10 Years
Thousands of young Latinos are now celebrating yet another milestone.
During the Arizona State University’s Hispanic Convocation yesterday, Vice President of Educational Outreach Beatriz Rendón announced that the number of Latino graduates at the university has doubled in the past 10 years.
In Spring 2016 alone, more than 2,000 Latino students received diplomas from ASU.
The Hispanic Convocation took place at Tempe’s Wells Fargo Arena, where Rendón also announced that Liberal Arts and Sciences, Engineering, and Business are the top three subjects at the university in which Hispanics are getting their degrees.
The convocation also honored two outstanding students who have demonstrated scholastic excellence and leadership during their academic journey at ASU.
Katie Curiel received the Ed Pastor Outstanding Graduate award, while student Grace Ordonez was honored with the Cecilia Esquer Outstanding Undergraduate award.
The ASU Hispanic Convocation is a signature event that honors the accomplishments and commitment of ASU’s Hispanic students pursuing higher education.
