ADE Responds to School Safety Concerns
Arizona Department of Education reports:
We at the Arizona Department of Education grieve with the victims and families of the senseless tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut last week. Generally speaking, schools are safe places for students, but these kinds of incidents remind us to always keep school safety at the forefront.
The Department has resources available to school districts across the state to help them develop emergency response plans and threat assessment protocols. We also have a School Safety Resource webpage available for schools, parents and the public that includes, among other resources, how to talk to children about school shootings and a School Safety Checklist.
If you have concerns about your child’s school, we encourage you to talk to your local school administrators and refer them to our school safety resources. School safety is critical to everything we do in education, and the Arizona Department of Education working with schools to ensure the security of our students.
