TEMPE, Ariz. – A blank canvas, a palette of paints, an instructor, friends, the inspiration of an entire art gallery and something to nibble all equal an evening of perfection for the artist within.
Gather with friends and co-workers and unwind from the workday at the beautiful Gallery at Tempe Center for the Arts for Art After Work. The next class takes place on Nov. 12.
Take part in a fun, laid-back painting class that requires no art experience. Relax during a friendly night of art making with enough guidance to ensure participants leave with a lovely painting.
Most months, participants paint a new take on a classic painting, such as Van Gogh’s Starry Night. Themes change each time so artists can return to create new masterpieces. Classes take place from 6 – 8:30 p.m. one Wednesday each month, with the exception of December.
The $35 ticket includes art materials and an $8 food & beverage voucher. Online registration only. No refunds. Registration is capped at 25 people and must be completed by noon on the day of class. Buy Tickets
Tempe Center for the Arts is located at 700 W. Rio Salado Parkway, Tempe.
Masterpiece Schedule
Nov. 12 – Aspen Winter Trees
Paint a sweet winter scene: bright white aspen trees, set against a pale blue sky. Lastly, we will add a focal point of a bright red cardinal, resting a branch.
Jan. 14 – Van Gogh’s Trio of Sun Flowers
The first month of the new year brings Van Gogh’s first version of his sunflower series. Trapped in a vase, this trio of flowers is just figuring out its place. Luckily, the flowers have each other and your brush to bring them to life.
Feb. 18 – Lovey Dovey WHOO?
This will be our first diptych, or two canvas, piece. Grab your significant other or your bestie and paint two love owls on a branch.
March 25 – Frida Kahlo Portrait
Celebrate Women’s History Month by painting our version of one the art world’s most famous artists, Frida Kahlo. Our inspiration will come from her vibrant cover shot featured in Vogue and her numerous self-portraits.
April 29 – Matisses’s The Goldfish
Goldfish are thought to be creators of good luck and positive outcomes in new endeavors. This painting is all about bright colors, off perspectives and tranquility.
May 13 – Starry Night A Gogh Gogh
Join us under the stars of Tempe, as we paint this classic masterpiece. Learn step-by-step how to add those swirly thick layers of paint, just like Van Gogh.
