Heard Museum to Host Frida Kahlo Birthday Celebration on July 9th
The Heard Museum will honor the legendary Mexican artist Frida Kahlo with a celebration featuring the Phoenix Fridas 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 9th.
To celebrate Ms. Kahlo’s 109th birthday, which is July 6th, there will be festivities including a fabulous cake, make and take crafts, art by the Phoenix Fridas, mariachi music by Mariachi Pasión, dance performances by Ollin Yoliztli Ballet Folklórico, spoken word and free goodie bags to the first 25 Frida look-a-likes to attend with paid museum admission.
Special food and drinks will be available for purchase at the Museum’s Courtyard Café and a gorgeous birthday cake will be served to party guests starting at 3:30 p.m.
Heard Curator Janet Cantley said, “expect to see more of the Fridas here at the Heard in the future. The collaboration with the Phoenix Fridas has been valuable and we hope to continue with more related events and exhibits.”
