AZLatinos Brazil 2Too late or pockets not deep enough to book a trip to carnival in Brazil? Not to worry! Experience the excitement, the sensual sights, the pounding rhythms, and the authenticity of the world’s biggest party at Afro:Baile’s 4th Annual Carnaval do Brazil on Saturday, March 2.

This event starts at 9 p.m. will be held in Old Town Scottsdale this year, at The Venue at 7117 E. 3rd Ave. This traditional celebration showcases a plethora of Brazilian party highlights, such as a Brazilian band, Samba dancers in colorful costumes, capoeira performers and dancers, food, and native drinks. Afro:Baile merchandise such as CDs this record studio produces, tee shirts, and posters will be on sale.

“For those who have never experienced Brazil, and for those who have and want more of its authentic, traditional vibe, you need to come on out,” says Miguel Ivery, carnival producer, Afro:Baile owner, and DJ. “It’s really going to be a good time.”

This year the celebration features the crowd-pleasing performer Quetzal Guerrero, a musician with roots in Brazil, and his band. This young man is a rising star who produces his music out of Los Angeles.  Quetzal’s music infuses a perky convergence of Samba, Bossa Nova, Salsa, Jazz, Funk, Reggae, and Urban Latino sounds. His latest CD Coiza Boa (Portuguese for “Good Thing”) showcases his original songs, his band’s tight executions, and his memorable vocals that tease partiers to get on the dance floor and never sit down again. He has performed shows throughout Latin America and the United States.

Ivery says Carnaval do Brazil is an evening dedicated to preserving the authenticity of Brazil with an amazing line-up that includes Gustavo Danta, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsiu master, as well as food and drinks that reflect the Brazilian culture. Last year’s event drew about 1,100 attendees, he adds.

The carnival is presented by Afro:Baile Records, located in Scottsdale. The company has established itself as a premier provider of Brazilian music, culture, and events while introducing a new generation of modern and mainstream Brazilian artists and musicians to the Arizona public. So put on your best Brazilian colors, costumes, and dancing shoes and cut loose with batucadas on March 2! This evening is a 21 years and over event, and tickets cost $20. Pre-event, discounted ticket can be purchased online at www.CarnavalEvent.com through Feb. 28. VIP tickets also are available and include seating in a reserved area, a VIP bar, drink tickets, music, poster, and favors. For more information e-mail Miguel Ivery at Miguel@afrobaile.com .
