D-backs Recognized as Most Admired Company
PHOENIX – The Arizona Diamondbacks was named the 2013 Arizona’s Most Admired Companies winner of the Workplace Culture Award presented by AzBusiness Magazine and BestCompaniesAZ at their annual event held last night at the Ritz-Carlton. The award, accepted by D-backs President & CEO Derrick Hall, recognizes the top company which excels in workplace culture.
“This is a tribute to each and every employee at the Arizona Diamondbacks and shows how hard our employees word every day to make our environment special and unique,” said Hall. “We have created an atmosphere of fun, family, productivity and development and I am proud that we are continuously honored for providing the best fan experience in sports, a distinction which is rivaled by our ability to stand out with exceptional culture.”
The D-backs recently rebranded the physical appearance of the front office as the D-backs Culture & Innovation Center which features an area dedicated to the Circle of Success, created by Hall to focus the organization’s efforts in five main areas – Performance, Fan Experience, Community, Culture and Financial Efficiency. The past and present honorees of the President’s Council are highlighted in the Culture & Innovation Center while there are also areas dedicated to the team’s accolades and honors off the field and the winners of the Most Valuable Partner Awards, a first-of-its-kind event hosted by the D-backs each offseason.
D-backs employees operate under core values established by the leadership team that provide true framework for effective decision making. Those values include investing into the people who work for the organization, cultivating and enhancing relationships with employees, establishing integrity by accepting individual and collective responsibility, foster learning throughout the organization while considering outside points of view, and expecting positive results from the organization both on and off the field.
In 2012, the D-backs created an employee-driven community service program titled the “D-backs Give Back League” which featured nine groups working on separate projects to help improve the Arizona community. Among the unique perks enjoyed by employees, including an extended two-week holiday break, quarterly company outings, roundtable meetings between management and employees and a rotating council comprised of members from all levels of the organization focusing on enhancing company events and culture.
